The New York Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is providing qualified small industrial businesses the opportunity to learn specialized growth and development strategies from industry experts. The Initiative will take place in two phases. The first phase will take place in 5 workshops in each of the five boroughs. Participants in Phase 1 will have the opportunity to apply for Phase 2 which will begin in September. Phase 2 participants will compete for $150,000 (to be given to the top three plans) to put towards their business growth. 8:30 am.

Increase your employability. Free advanced training in Microsoft Word for anyone ages 16-24. Participants will have the opportunity to take the Microsoft Office Specialist exam at the end of training to become Microsoft Certified. 6–8pm.

The Queens Chamber of Commerce and the New York City Business Solutions, Queens Center presents Restaurant Boot Camp Seminar. Meet speakers from New Business Acceleration Team (NBAT) to discuss the licensing/permits required for food businesses and Micro lender to discuss special financing available for food businesses. 5:30 pm.

The forum provides Queens and metropolitan area small business owners with the chance to meet and speak with a large number of procurement representatives about contract opportunities and to network with other small businesses. Dozens of government agencies and private-sector companies have been invited to participate in the event. These include NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Department of Education, New York City Housing Authority, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, Federal Aviation Administration, US Attorney’s Office Eastern District of NY, Internal Revenue Services, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and many others.
