KRESSLER, Richard N. of Brooklyn, NY, and Bloomsburg, PA, died peacefully at his home on Baltic Street on March 24, 2016, at age 86. Eldest son of Daniel R. and Madlyn M. Kressler, Dick graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1948, where he was President of the Senior Class, and from the Bloomsburg State Teachers College (now Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania) in 1953, with a BS in education. During his college years, Dick was listed in Who’s Who of Colleges & Universities, and was a member of the Alpha Psi Omega dramatic fraternity. The summer after graduating from college, Dick went to Germany on an exchange program sponsored by the Lutheran Church. Upon returning to the U.S., Dick taught in the Baltimore public school system for two years. In 1955, Dick joined the New York City office of Magee Carpet Company, where we served as advertising manager. In the later years of his career, Dick worked for Revlon, Inc., as marketing manager. Dick was an avid traveller, both during his working career and in retirement. After retiring, he served on the Board of Directors of Housing Works for 17 years, and was a Big Apple Greeter. In the 1970’s Dick, along with his brother Dan and friend Laylen Sweet, bought a classic Brooklyn brownstone, at 233 Baltic Street, which led to his long involvement with the Heights And Hill Community Council and the Brooklyn Historical Society. Predeceased by his partner John Robertson, Dick is survived by his brother Daniel.
