Corner in Maspeth renamed for bar owner George Gibbons

The corner of 60th Drive and Mt. Olivet Crescent in Maspeth was renamed Saturday for George Gibbons Jr., the popular bar owner of Gibbons’ Home. Gibbons was killed in a wrong way hit-and-run crash on the Long Island Expressway service road in 2011. His family and City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, who introduced the legislation to rename the street in the Council, unveiled the sign before a commemorative version was presented to relatives.
