Halloween was the keynote of the week. State Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) celebrated his Halloween birthday with family and friends at a party at the Douglaston Club. Beneath a beard and western togs, he was the usual fine host and circulated the many rooms. His daughter was as cute as ever in her Hawaiian skirt and leis and mentioned that her brother now lived in Hawaii and was the doctor on call.

There were a witch and a gypsy at our table and the wonderful make-up was done by a professional artist, Carol Reilly. We sang
