Beware Asian beetles in firewood: USDA

Further infestations of the Asian Longhorned Beetle could be prevented if Queens residents are cautious about where there firewood comes from this winter, a federal official said.

If firewood from parks and public streets, such as wood chips or fallen tree limbs, is removed from federally designated quarantine areas, there is a risk of further infestations, said Joe Gittleman, supervisor of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
