Today’s news:

Queens falls to Division I St. Francis

For almost eighteen minutes of the first half, Queens College was playing a close game with St. Francis College. Up against a Division I program, Division II Queens had a great opportunity.

A jumper by Steve Sikiric pulled the Knights to within six with 2:08 remaining in the first half. Then two minutes of poor play put the Knights into a 13-point halftime deficit they could never recover from as St. Francis defeated them, 95-73, at the Pope Physical Education Center in Brooklyn Heights on Saturday night.

Henry LaLane (15 points) drilled two three-point shots to extend the lead to 40-29. Richy Dominguez (16 points) followed with a layup before Angel Santana drew two defenders to him and dished to a wide-open Herberth Reyes for a dunk to end the half.

So what was a close game for most of the first half turned into a 44-31 game at halftime. The Terriers (3-0) size advantage seemed to get to the Knights as they lost the battle on the glass, 30-19 in the first half.
