Rochdale man, 19, murdered

A 19-year-old man from Rochdale Village who graduated from Cardozo HS in Bayside was killed Friday afternoon in an encounter with several other teenagers that occurred just yards from the 113th precinct station house.

Two men were shot and three have been arrested in the incidents that occurred at 126-10 Bedell St. in the playground of P.S. 30, which is adjacent to the precinct, said 113th Community Affairs Officer Flora Krind.

Nishon Joseph, 19, was shot in the head at 5:15 p.m. and taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he died later that evening. His friend, Wayne Flemming, 19, was shot in the shoulder and taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition, said Krind.

Krind said officers responded to the sound of shots fired and immediately went into the playground area, where they found Joseph wounded. Based on the description from witnesses and possibly Joseph, police searched the area for the suspects.
