In 1961, Mary Howard of Jamaica was first on line to check out a book when the South Jamaica branch of Queens Public Library opened its doors to the public.

This past Monday Howard was honored to check out the first book of the brand new South Jamaica library, 2 1/2 times the size of its predecessor.
