A former Army captain from Woodside is facing a possible death sentence on charges that he bludgeoned to death two former friends who had allegedly planned to testify against him about an illegal land sale.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes announced the indictment last week of 37-year-old John Lau, a former Army captain stationed with the Reserves at Bayside
