Donna Hanover, the first lady of New York City, stopped by a luncheon at the Margaret Tietz Nursing Center April 12 in Jamaica as part of National Volunteer Week to honor volunteers who dedicate their time to assisting the senior citizens who live in the facility.
The Margaret Tietz Nursing Center, founded in the early 1970s, is a residential health-care facility with a mission of caring for Holocaust survivors, but it has expanded to serve members of the general community.
