21-year-old faces murder charge

His companions say he was just trying to protect a friend from an abusive husband.

But on Jan. 6, Young Kwok, 21, of 102nd Avenue in Richmond Hill, was facing two counts of second-degree murder before a judge in criminal court in Kew Gardens.

He is being held without bail and was scheduled to appear before a grand jury this week for the murder of 32-year-old Mark Santiago, also of Richmond Hill.

The killing marked the first murder of the new year for the 102nd Precinct, which covers Richmond Hill, Ozone Park, Woodhaven and Kew Gardens. Last year there were 12 murders in the precinct
