Bayside activist celebrates 69th birthday

Surrounded by more than 100 friends and family, Bayside civic leader Mandingo Tshaka celebrated his 69th birthday at the Trinity Baptist Church Saturday.

Tshaka, who grew up in Bayside and has been a civic leader and activist since the 1970s, received citations of honor from Borough President Claire Shulman and City Councilman Mike Abel (R-Bayside), a medal for outstanding achievement from state Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) and a citation from the state Legislature via Assemblywoman Ann-Margaret Carrozza (D-Bayside).
