The U.S. Senate has confirmed Bayside native Nick Garaufis as a federal judge, making him the first Queens resident on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District in more than a decade.
Garaufis, recommended for the nomination by U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.), was one of 16 people confirmed for federal judgeships across the country by the Senate, said James Ward, the district executive for the federal court for the Eastern District. Ward said Garaufis
