I am writing this column during a major rain storm.
We have had close to 4 inches of rain in the past three days, the cloud cover bodes even more downpour, and I am thoroughly convinced that the sun has disappeared from the metropolitan area .
After taking a moment to recapture my composure, I soon realized that the sun will indeed make its presence known ... and if past experience for the month of August is any indicator of gardening tasks, we can be assured of several extended heat spells and a period of time without significant rain.
