Middle Village to honor 19th century soldier

But now a headstone to pay tribute to Sgt. William Koelpin - born in Prussia in 1845, enlisted in Brooklyn in 1866 and buried here in 1912 - is to be unveiled in his honor by fellow soldiers

Members of the 88th Brigade New York Guard will dedicate the marker, bearing a cartouche of the Congressional Medal, for Koelpin on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m. in Lutheran Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
