New York Metropolitan Country Music Association holds its' annual benefit for St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital Sat., Feb. 5, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Several local bands will participate, including Ridin' High, The Neil Scott Johnson Band, and Savannah Sky. There will be many items to be sold, by auction or raffle during the event, including items such as dance lessons from local country music dance instructors to statues to pizzas, all obtained through donations from local businsses. In celebration of Black History Month, Jubba Jazz and Jammin', a theatrical company of dancers, musicians, and singers will perform at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center at LaGuardia Community College on Feb. 6. The Cross Island YMCA is proud to offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid. The Course begins on Sun., Feb. 6 with a pretest and is followed by five consecutive Sundays.
