Consumer electronics were among the top five gifts for Father's Day last year according to the International Mass Retail Association, and this year's newest products ensure technology will stay one of dad's favorites.

"We find that in the weeks before Father's Day sales of digital products increase, indicating that today's dads are technology enthusiasts and that consumer electronics are a popular gift," said Laurie Bauer, spokeswoman for Best Buy, a retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances.

If your dad is a fan of television, he'll never want to leave the couch with Ultimate TV. Dad will have the power right at his fingertips to pause, rewind and interact with live TV, as well as record two shows at the same time. In addition to channel surfing, Ultimate TV has Internet access, so he can also surf the Web or send e-mail while watching television. Add a video game system and your dad will have endless entertainment.

Music fans may enjoy a portable MP3 player. Some units can play music from a computer or stereo, have dual line outputs for surround sound, and can hold up to 100 hours of dad's favorite music.

Dad will never miss that important appointment or meeting with a personal digital assistant. Many assistants offer a date book, address book, notepad and Internet access to keep dad organized.

If your dad is a wine connoisseur, a wine cooler is the perfect gift. The cooler features automatic settings for red and white wines, smoked glass door with slide out chrome racks, and a locking door. More compact than a wine cellar, your dad can chill up to 30 bottles of his favorite wines at a time.

For the family man, a digital camera is the perfect gift. Dad will be able to capture his favorite shots of the family and store them on disk or computer. Some cameras also offer a movie mode to capture audio and video for instant home movies.

When in doubt, gift cards are a great idea for the dad who has everything. Many retailers offer gift cards in a variety of denominations that can be purchased in stores or online.

With the latest and greatest in technology, your dad is sure to enjoy receiving a Father's Day gift that will make his life easier and more fun.
