The Cross Island YMCA, 238-10 Hillside Ave., Bellerose, offers league and recreational volleyball for adults 17 and over. Open recreational games will be played on Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Admission is free to YMCA members and $10 for non-members.
Thursday night is league night from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. League fees are $300 for a team of nine players or $35 for individuals. For more information call 479-0505.
The Cross Island YMCA, 238-10 Hillside Ave., Bellerose, offers Adult Soccer League Tournament on Saturday evenings between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the YMCA backyard field. Each team can no more than 10 players, only seven of which can be on the field, including the goalie, with unlimited substitution. Games included two 15-minute halves and one eight-minute overtime period under sudden death tie breaker rules.
Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place trophies finishers with meals going to the third and fourth place teams. An MVP award will also be given out. Fees are $25 per player or $50 per team. For more information call 479-0505.
Two new basketball programs are being offered by the Cross Island YMCA:
Summer Hoops 2001 - Adult (18+) Basketball Tournament. Games will played on Saturdays between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. beginning July 28 at either Tenny Park (261st Street and 78th Avenue) or Utopia Park (178th Street and 73rd Avenue). First and Second Place trophies and MVP award will be given out. the cost is $500 per team, limited to eight teams. Contact the Cross Island YMCA at 479-0505.
Teen Basketball Tournament - Girls and boys ages 14 to 17 years in two divisions. Games played on Sundays between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Cross Island YMCA, 238-10 Hillside Ave., Bellerose. Four first and four second place trophies plus MVP award will be distributed. the cost is $30 per player, including referee fees. For more information call 479-0505
The Cross Island YMCA, 238-10 Hillside Ave., Bellerose, offers a new Flag Football Program for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 years. The program, which runs on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., is open to players of all skill levels. it will include clinics, practices and games.
