Bayside tops College Pt. for Rosenbluth crown

By The TimesLedger

The Bayside 10-year-old all-stars finished a very successful summer by going 13-0 and winning the Rosenbluth tournament with a 13-1 win over College Point.

Bayside started off the summer by winning the District 26 Championship in July. The team’s only loss was a tough 2-3 loss to Larchmont in Sectional play.

Bayside was led by the outstanding pitching of Jorge Ynoa, Joey Marden, Cal Sternick, Jim Antunes and Mike Keen. Defensively, Kevin Smith, Sean Donnelly, Rob Schule and Steve Mare played effortless ball, while the offense was paced by the clutch hitting of Rob Renzi, Derek Lamacchia, Nick Copelli, Steve Kinnaly and Matthew Valle.

The only down note of the summer came when Bayside lost its answer to “Super” Joe McEwing when Mike McManus broke his wrist in Regional play. Bayside finished the summer at 17-1 and now gets ready to play snow flake ball starting this weekend.
