Bayside’s Kevin Reilly sweeps golf skills competition in Pa.

Bayside resident, 7-year-old Kevin Reilly, traveled to the Water Gap Country Club in Pennsylvania on May 28, to compete in the 2002 Drive, Pitch and Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition sponsored by the Golf Channel. Kevin finished in first place in his age division of 7- and 8-year-olds.

Reilly swept all three-skill challenge events, the highlight being his 188-yard drive down the middle of the fairway. On June 8, Kevin will move on to the Regional Championship in Pennsauken, N.J. If he wins there, he will advance to the National Championship held in Orlando, Fla. where he will compete with kids from all over United States. The event will be televised on the Golf Channel.

Kevin is also getting ready for his trip to Quincy, Ill. to compete in the 2002 Pepsi Little Peoples Golf Championship June 17 through June 19. Last year he finished in the top 10 in his age division.
