Queens Scouts to gather in Cunningham

The Queens Council of the Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts of America, will celebrate the 92nd birthday of scouting in America by holding a Camp-O-Ree this weekend in Cunningham Park.

The theme of the event is “Scouting ‘Round the World.” Each participating Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop and Venturing Crew of the council will demonstrate the scouting program as it is conducted in different countries around the world. A large contingent of scouts from units throughout Queens is expected.

A Marine honor guard and local dignitaries will be part of the opening ceremonies scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday. There will be programs throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
