‘Queens Supreme’ premieres Friday

A pair of brothers whose father is a sitting judge in Queens have blended their life experiences to bring a new drama series to the small screen. The premiere of “Queens Supreme,” filmed and set in Long Island City, airs at 10 p.m. Friday on CBS

The show stars Oliver Platt, Annabella Sciorra, Robert Loggia and L. Scott Caldwell as judges in the comic drama that focuses on the personalities of people behind the bench and behind the scenes in the borough’s highest court. Kyra Sedgwick and Vincent Pastore also have recurring roles.

Created by brothers Peter and Daniel Thomas, real-life lawyers from the Rockaways, the show is co-produced by Julia Roberts’ Shoelace Productions and CBS Productions in association with Spelling Television, Shadowland Productions, Red Om Productions and Revolution Television. The premiere was directed by Tim Robbins.

In the series premiere, Judge Jack Moran (Platt) and a jury are held hostage by a gun-wielding juror who becomes agitated during a trial to determine whether the death of an elderly man who joined a smoke-enders program was caused by the stress of withdrawal.
