‘Telling Stories’ in LIC

Through dance, the spoken word, music, audio-visual enhancements and the delightful tradition of Griot storytelling, the Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn will take the audience back in time to witness the struggles, hardships, and triumphs of the African experience in this country.

In the production, a young African-American boy who is interested in learning about his heritage is taken on a magical journey back in time to witness the struggles and hardships of his African ancestors. Through his travels he learns about the difficult lives they led but also about how they overcame insurmountable obstacles and gained strength as a people.

The Weekend Family Series production of “Telling Our Stories,” will be held in the college’s Mainstage Theatre at Van Dam Street and 47th Avenue, Long Island City.

The performance will begin at 2 p.m. Call the box office for tickets at 718-482-5151.
