The brazen daytime robbery happened on Saturday, April 9, at 12:30 in the afternoon at the Queens County Savings Bank at 247-53 Jamaica Ave. in Bellerose.Police described the man as a 35-year-old white male who is 5-foot-2 and weighs 150 pounds with a goatee. The robber may be a Harley Davidson motorcycle aficionado, according to Detective Philip Schurr with the Major Case Squad at 1 Police Plaza in Manhattan."He was wearing a Harley Davidson hat and watch," said Shurr. "He could be a bike lover."Shurr said the man approached a teller at the bank and demanded money while keeping one hand in the pocket of his black-hooded sweatshirt, simulating a gun. The teller complied with the man's demand but did not give him all the money in the drawer."He said, 'I know you have more,'"said Schurr. "She gave him the rest of the money she had in the drawer." Schurr said the man walked off with $2,200 in cash before making his getaway. "He fled the bank on foot, but we're not sure where he went once he left the bank," said Schurr.Another clue in the robbery is a rubber glove the man wore on one hand during the robbery, which may suggest he has a criminal record and did not want to leave fingerprints behind. The man should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Schurr. Schurr is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or the Major Case Squad at 646-610-6910. All information is kept confidential and a reward of $2,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Reach reporter Peter A.
