Mistakenly-shot officer dies; murder charges mulled for thugs

The streets were lined with blue as throngs of police officers showed up in White Plains earlier in the week to pay their respects to Police Officer Eric Hernandez, the off-duty 52nd Precinct cop who was beaten by a gang of thugs inside a Bronx fast food restaurant and then mistakenly shot by a police officer, resulting in his death on February 8.

As the pain and loss still shadows the family that stood vigil at his bedside at St. Barnabas Hospital, they now await a post-mortem exam that will reveal the true cause of Hernandez
