Sometimes you go to cover one story and discover another one just waiting to be told.

That occurred to me this past weekend when I attended the Throgs Neck Little League Dinner at the Marina del Rey.

I had actually thought it was doubling as an awards ceremony and had expected kids in attendance and a table filled with trophies.

But the dinner was a celebration of the 55th Anniversary of the league with an aim at raising funds for future seasons while thanking families, sponsors and elected officials for all their years of support.
