Queens Zoo looking for volunteers for teaching, tours, special events

FLUSHING MEADOWS The Wildlife Conservation Society's Queens Zoo is looking for volunteers. As volunteers, participants will teach school-aged children and other visitors about animals, give guided tours, work in the Wild Discovery Room and help the instructors give special presentations and work on special events.

Volunteers may be asked to lead discussions with visitors at exhibit sites and lead arts and crafts activities. They will be required to participate in several weeks of training with a commitment to work one weekday each week or one day every other weekend. The program is open to those ages 18 and older.

The Queens Zoo is located at 53-51 111th St., Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $6 for adults, $2.25 for seniors, $2 for children ages 3 to 12 and free for children under the age of 3.
