Hotly contested campaigns with candidates vying for seats representing western Queens are gaining traction with the July 15 campaign finance filings.
State Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi (D-Forest Hills) faces challenges from Democrat Joe Fox and Republican Alex Powietrzynski for his seat in Albany.
Hevesi has raised more money than either challenger, although Fox is not far behind him.
State Sen. Toby Stavisky (D-Whitestone) is up against Democrats Isaac Sasson and John Messer and Republican Robert Schwartz.
U.S. Reps. Anthony Weiner (D-Forest Hills) and Gregory Meeks (D-Jamaica) have far outraised their opponents, who have not yet filed with the Federal Election Commission.
