SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — A senior citizen was killed in a car accident last week while she was crossing the street, police said.
The unidentified 81-year-old woman was trying to cross Guy R. Brewer Boulevard near 147th Avenue Sept. 8 around 8 p.m. when she was hit by a 2010 Honda Civic that was driving north on the boulevard, police said.
The 31-year-old driver stayed at the scene and an ambulance rushed the pedestrian to Jamaica Hospital, but she was pronounced dead when she got there, according to investigators.
No criminality was suspected in the accident and the driver was not charged, police said.
