Forest Hills bar fight death not ruled homicide

A man died after an assault inside a Forest Hills bar Nov. 27 — but the incident has not been ruled a homicide.

Haroon Walfall, 33, of Rose Park, L.I., was beaten by an group of unknown men inside Bartini’s, at 1 Station Square, over Thanksgiving weekend, but according to police the injuries he sustained were not life-threatening.

The assault occurred inside the bar. Afterward, Walfall left the premises with a group of friends and entered a friend’s car, according to police.

Sometime later at 3 a.m., Nassau County Police responded to a 911 call from Franklin General Hospital, at 900 Franklin Ave., in Valley Stream.

Hospital staff reported that Walfall was dead upon arrival.

A posthumous medical examination revealed that Walfall died of cardiac arrest and that the injuries he sustained from the assault were not life-threatening. A toxicology report is pending.

The incident at the Forest Hills bar has been ruled an assault by the 112th Precinct.
