CORONA — A woman was killed Tuesday in an early-morning fire in one of the high-rise buildings that comprise LeFrak City, police and city Fire Department officials said.
The fire was reported at 2:52 a.m. and units responded to the scene four minutes later, fire officials said. The blaze was determined to be on the 17th floor of the 18-story building and firefighters found a 60-year-old woman inside the apartment.
Medics responding to the scene determined the woman was unresponsive and pronounced her dead, police said. The fire is still under investigation, but police do not suspect any criminality.
