Three candidates are running in the Republican Primary for the Senate seat, held by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

Wendy Long

Wendy Long won 47 percent of the delegates at the New York Republican Convention in April, besting opponents U.S. Rep. Bob Turner and Nassau County comptroller George Maragos. The married mother of two is a pro-life lawyer, working with Americans United for Life, a public interest law firm and advocacy group. She has served as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Ralph K. Winter on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York.

George Maragos

George Maragos currently serves as the Nassau County comptroller. He previously held senior management positions in banking, consulting and information systems, including president of SDS Financial Technologies, vice president of Citicorp and vice president at Chase Manhattan Bank. In his role as comptroller, Maragos acts as a financial watchdog for the county’s $2.6 billion annual budget. Maragos is married and has two sons and a granddaughter.

Bob Turner

U.S. Rep. Bob Turner won his seat in the 9th Congressional District in a September 2011 special election. The Breezy Point resident was a media executive before first running for Congress in 2010, losing to Anthony Weiner, whom he replaced last year in a special election. He defeated Assemblyman David Weprin for the seat. After Turner’s district was eliminated during redistricting, the married father of five decided to challenge U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

Good stuff, but....

Shouldn't you mention that Wendy Long has the Conservative Party nomination?

And, Turner did not defeat Wiener, who had resigned. He defeated David Weprin.
