The Bayside Little League Boys of Summer team won the Rosenbluth Championship last week, closing out a strong summer on a high note.
The Bayside 10-year-olds took on the Whitestone Angels at Valle East Field, at 35th Avenue and 216th Street in Bayside, Aug. 27. Bayside beat Whitestone 3-1 in six innings of play.
Bayside right-hander Nicholas Perez hurled for the title matchup, allowing only one run in 5 1/3 innings. Perez also hit a game-winning home run to seal the championship, driving in a run by first baseman John Callahan. It was Perez’s third home run of the season.
Manager John Callahan led the team to the championship along with Coaches Gallo Cabrera and Randy DeCastro.
