Robber makes off with cash, cell phone: Cops

TimesLedger Newspapers

SOUTH OZONE PARK — A man was robbed in broad daylight Jan. 23, according to documents from the Queens district attorney’s office.

At around 3:30 p.m., police responded to the corner of Rockaway Boulevard and 133rd Street, where a man said he was threatened with a firearm, according to the DA.

The man was approached by Devin Spriggs, 36, of 120-11 134th St., who grabbed a plastic bag the man was carrying and asked, “What you got in here?” according to the DA.

Spriggs then grabbed the man by the jacket while two others who were later arrested, Jamel Jefferson and Orville Whervin, approached, the DA said.

Spriggs then said, “What else do you have? Empty out your pockets or I will shoot you,” and then reached into his waistband and flashed what appeared to be a black firearm, according to the DA.

Spriggs then stole the man’s wallet, cash and cell phone before telling him to walk away.

He was later arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, a felony.
