Hurricane Heros: Volunteer firefighters honored for work during Sandy

Five volunteer fire departments in southern Queens were honored for their heroic work during and after Hurricane Sandy prior to a meeting of the City Council last week. Each department was awarded a City Council proclamation by Speaker Christine Quinn and Councilman Eric Ulrich. The five departments that were honored were from West Hamilton Beach, Broad Channel, Roxbury, Point Breeze and Rockaway Point.
