Girl struck by van while crossing street in Corona: NY Post

CORONA — A 9-year-old girl was recovering in a hospital bed Monday after she was struck by a van a day earlier, the New York Post reported.

Witnesses told the Post a Ford van hit the girl after her and friend were trying to cross a Corona street at about 7:24 p.m. in front of 38-17 111th St.

The driver stayed at the scene and was not expected to be charged by police, according to the Post, while the girl was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where she was treated for head trauma.
