FAR ROCKAWAY — A Queens man has been convicted of murdering his former girlfriend by bludgeoning her to death with a two-by-four piece of lumber, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
In September 2009, Elmer Diaz, 39, went to the Far Rockaway home of his former girlfriend, Indira Villa, 38, and an argument ensued and escalated, according to trial testimony.
Diaz struck Villa on the head with the wood in front of the victim’s two children, one of which was Diaz’s three-year-old daughter, the DA said.
Villa died of blunt-force trauma to the head, according to the DA.
Diaz’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
