POMONOK — The West Nile virus has been found in mosquitoes in Pomonok Houses, the city announced Monday.

No human cases of the potentially deadly disease have been reported, but the city Department of Health urged New Yorkers to use caution when outdoors — especially the young and elderly.

“Now that West Nile virus has returned to New York City, it is important to take simple precautions to protect you and your family,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley. “Be sure to wear mosquito repellent when outdoors, and cover your arms and legs if you’re outside at dawn or dusk.”

Crews will set up more mosquito traps and treat catch basins in the area, while conducting aerial sprays over other parts of the borough.
