A Jackson Heights woman died after she crashed while riding her bicycle near the cliffs of the Palisades Cliffs in New Jersey, according to Palisades Interstate Parkway Police.

Police responded Friday to a report of an unconscious cyclist near the Alpine Hill area of Henry Hudson Drive, and there they found the 55-year-old woman, who had not yet been identified, with an arm injury, police said.

She was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center in serious condition, where she died a short time later, according to authorities.

An investigation is underway to determine a cause of death, but police believe she had run off the road, fallen off the bicycle and suffered head and arm injuries, police said.
