Passenger dies in early morning Rosedale crash: NYPD

ROSEDALE — A 29-year-old man died in Rosedale early Monday morning after the car he was riding in rear-ended another car and overturned, police said.

Kendall Heard, 29, of Freeport, L.I., was in the passenger seat of a 2014 Infinity sedan, traveling eastbound on the Belt Parkway with Sharlene Numa, 28, of Roosevelt, L.I., when their car struck a 2012 Mercedes-Benz from behind that was being driven by an unidentified 18-year-old man, according to cops.

Numa’s car overturned in the crash, which occurred near South Conduit Avenue and Brookville Boulevard, police said.

EMS rushed Heard to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said, and the 18-year-old driver was taken to Franklin General Hospital in stable condition.

Numa was arrested and charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and DWI, police said.
