A teacher at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood has been arrested and charged with rape and criminal sexual act, the NYPD and DOE said.
The Police Department said Joy Morsi, 39, was cuffed Monday from within the 104th Precinct, which covers Ridgewood, Glendale, Middle Village and Maspeth.
She was charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act, the NYPD said.
The city Department of Education said it immediately removed Morsi from Grover Cleveland upon learning of the allegations.
“We find these claims disturbing and reprehensible and she will remain reassigned - far from any student and the school - pending a criminal investigation,” the DOE said in a statement. “We will work closely with the school to ensure they are given any needed support.”
