RIDGEWOOD — The 104th Precinct urged the community to be alert following seven knifepoint robberies of women in Ridgewood over the past month.

Police said two men appear to be targeting women between 3 p.m. and midnight, sometimes following victims down the street and displaying weapons that resemble kitchen knives.

No one has been injured in the attacks, police said.

The 104th Precinct said the first armed robbery was reported Jan. 22 near 68th and Forest avenues.

Robberies near the corners of 60th Lane and 75th Avenue, 60th Place and Putnam Avenue and Summerfield Street and Cypress Avenue as well as on Decatur Street between Myrtle and 75th avenues followed, according to cops.

Officers last responded to an armed robbery near the intersection of Grove Street and Forest Avenue Monday, the 104th Precinct said.

Officers said they believe the two suspects are white or Hispanic, with one about 5-foot-4 and the other around 6 feet tall.

The pair may be wearing something to cover their faces, the 104th Precinct said.

The precinct asked anyone with information about the incidents or suspects to call 718-386-3004.

Another reason why anti-gun laws are stupid. I'm sure these thugs would think twice before attacking someone who may have a gun to protect themselves with...

Joe from Ridgewood says:
Or, instead of walking around with a knife or two they'd rob you at gun point.

Which would you prefer?

Al from Ridgewood says:
Neither Joe the point is the criminals will use a gun or a knife they don't obey the law. Would u rather get stabbed or shoot what kind of question is that. I'm sure if these low lifes knew the woman could possibly be carrying a gun and knew how to use it they wouldn't be so brave with their armed robberies. I haven't meet anyone that would take a chance and rob a person if they knew that person could be armed but they don't have to worry about that in NYC because only criminals have weapons eveyone esle is a victim. The police is never there when you need them they always come after the crime has already been committed.

I think there sh from Glendale says:
I believe thier should be more cops everywhere On Duty not just trying to gain as much silly arrests in one month and wasting time when they can be putting that time and effort Into catching these criminals in the act . This wouldn't be happening if our police didn't just drive around carless checking wan out eating donuts ect. I don't believe the police cAre as much as they should. They just like the outfit and badge and with that power is enough for them and they don't even put it to good use ... And if thier are great policemen out there.... I'll tell you one thing the police department sucks at hiring great men and woman who are truly dedicated in to human safety. There's very little out thier and more useless policemen ... I stick to my opinion because one say the police will be the biggest and most powerful gang ....... Watch

93M's from Ridgewood says:
I think most of you should start using spellcheck if you want to try and sound smart. To legalize guns would be absurd, even if they did how would you know someone is packing? Criminals prey on those who show weakness or those who are not paying attention. Maybe if more people cared they'd do something about it. Cops can't do it alone.

Marvi from Glendale says:
If the cops weren't too busy trying to ticket drivers then they would be available to actually help people. The 104 is more focused on quotas than actually helping their community. I've seen them rotate who gets to give the tickets. They're always pulling people over for dumb reasons. It's been a whole month and they can't find two robbers who are constantly commiting armed robbery? Please, someone set their priorities straight.

JudgeDredd from RidgeBush says:
Let me see I have witnessed officers from the 104 sleeping in there patrol cars on the side of Subway restaurant off of metropolitan ave , pull over people for no reason at all by the underpass of cooper avenue, drive by cars illegally parked in cross walks and fire hydrants thru out Ridgewood Glendale and middle village all within 1-2 blocks of schools , seen them drive up and down toysrus & Bjs parking lots park and get on there cell phones for hours at a time, and the best one is two plain clothes Cops in a unmarked unit park and go sit in Glendale diner for 3.5 hours and talk so loud and complain about there sector to the waitress no wonder they can't catch these two perps smh

Danny from Maspeth says:
Of course these little cowards target unsuspecting women, because that's just what cowards do. It's only a matter of time before a greater force will intervene and then these punks will get the justice they so desperately deserve.

Annonymous from Ridgewood says:
From my perspective, i leave house everyday 5 a.m and get back home around 8 ishpm, both ways it dark. im a short etite indivdual myslef, how am i suppose to defend. god knows, maybe these robbers will start thinking that they can get away with these small attacks and will become more dangerous, since their adrenaline will require more "excitment". but the cops from 104 precent, dont do ——. i see them in mornings going through red lights with sirens on just to get to DD's or seven eleven for breakfast. ridicoulus?!!! they give tickets for stupidest things but dont get the real issues solved. they are just getting more fat and lazy, thinking they got uniform and their all that. —— them. somebody should go down and see that station. We have to protect ourselves and we will never be able to depend on 104 precent.

Why are there so many lazy cops from Ridgewood says:
As the previous person stated, let’s pay attention on the street and not look at the phone or listen to music. Be ready in case someone attacks you because Cops won’t come unless you’re dead and even that they will take their time. I see them when the undercover team comes to buy chines food on Forest and Greene; they get out of the car like in Al Capone movie with their guns showing. It’s hilarious! They are overweight or too short I cannot picture them running after any criminal, maybe that’s why they stay in their cars and sleep or text without even paying attention what goes around them.

pulled over for nada from ridgewood says:
the 104 has pulled me over 3 times for no reason within 3 months. u may ask "no reason? there must be a reason!!" there wasent! each time I was given a bogus excuse for pulling me over. they would say I made a turn without a signal or ran a yellow--- and each time I was not even coming from the direction they were talking about. unreal. had myself and car searched after each "traffic stop" with nothing to be found. everytime each cop had a smug smile and demeanor and sent me on my way without any tickets or apology! they will lie about what they see for an excuse to check out anybody. great job crime fighters.
