A suspect was arrested in the slashing of a 26-year-old man in front of a Flushing supermarket Friday night, the NYPD said.

At about 9:15 p.m., the victim was found on the ground in front of the Yong Fa Supermarket at 59-11 Main St. with four slashes to the abdomen and one defensive wound to the right forearm and right pinky finger from trying to block the attack, a police spokeswoman said.

The Flushing suspect, identified as Emmanuel Alvarez, also 26, was arrested two hours later in the back of the Yong Fa and charged with felony assault, misdemeanor assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment, according to a police spokeswoman.

The victim was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens.

The spokeswoman said the NYPD has not received notification of the victim’s status, but he should be considered alive for the moment.
