Police discover body of 24-year-old man in Bowery Bay in Astoria

The body of an unidentified 24-year-old man was pulled from the waters of Bowery Bay in Astoria Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 114th Precinct, responding to a 911 call, discovered the man floating between the bridge to Rikers Island and the Bower Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant on Berrian Boulevard.

The man was unconscious and unresponsive, police said. The FDNY removed from the body from the water and EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to the NYPD.

The identity of the man was pending proper family notification and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation was ongoing.
