City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. found two tires on his car had been slashed as he got ready to go to an event at a school Wednesday morning.

Vallone had been headed to PS 70 in Astoria.

“I’m fully cooperating with the NYPD and I’m hopeful that whoever did this apprehended,” Vallone said.

Vallone’s house is equipped with police-installed surveillance cameras and the NYPD was examining the recording, according to George Damalas, Vallone director of communications. Damalas said the cameras were put into place after the councilman received death threats on his voicemail, as well as threats of graffiti vandalism as his home.
