Little Tibet brings Himalayan flavor to Jackson Heights

It has been fascinating to see the changes taking place in the commercial area in Jackson Heights, running from about 75th to 72nd streets, bounded to the north by 37th Avenue, and Roosevelt Avenue to the south. A neighborhood whose numerous South Asian alimentary offerings were once dominated by Punjabi and South Indian fare has had to make room for the arrival of a steady influx of Himalayan eateries. New film follows legendary Danny Fields from Warhol to the Ramones

Earlier this year, the Queens Museum saluted one of Queens’ biggest contributions to the history of rock n roll with the exhibit “Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: The Ramones and the Birth of Punk,” which told the story of the legendary punk rockers on the 40th anniversary of the release of their first album. Comments (2)

Cook-off picks the best chicken soup in Queens

While it may be incontestable that chicken soup is good for you, the question of who makes the best chicken soup is one that many people in many places have asked. “Deli Man,” a 2014 documentary, told the story of Congregation Emanu El in Houston, Texas, which ran a Chicken Soup Cook-Off for many years. There have been cook-offs in the New York City area as well, but until now the partcipants have mostly been amateur chefs and judges. Comments (1)
