Big Oil does not deserve more money from gov’t

On March 29, Republicans in the U.S. Senate calling the bill a political stunt, blocked legislation to strip billions of dollars in tax breaks for the biggest U.S. oil companies. A last-minute entreaty by President Barack Obama was not enough to convince senators to strip the oil and gas industry of tax incentives. Comment

Nursing home union in labor talks

Negotiations have heated up at Bayside’s Ozanam Hall nursing home as more than 400 members of the UFCW Local 342 union accused management of unfair working conditions and the employees reached out to the community to share their stories, distributing leaflets to visitors at the home. Comment

William McCue, a New York state assistant attorney general, longtime Republican Party official and World War II veteran, died April 19. He was 91. Comment
