More police officers from the 109th Precinct are under investigation following the December arrests of two fellow officers, who were charged with taking bribes from Flushing karaoke club owners in exchange for protection from police raids, according to a lawyer for one of the officers. Briarwood man made more than 30 fake 911 calls: DA

A Briarwood man was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats after he allegedly called 911 dozens of times to report false emergencies, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. According to a complaint filed by the DA’s office, the man claimed he made the calls because the sound of sirens responding to those calls calmed his verbally abusive uncle down. Comments (1)

Corona man sentenced for strangling an Astoria woman to death

A 22-year-old Corona man was sentenced to 14 years to life in prison for the strangulation murder of a young woman he met on the street, followed home and then killed with his bare hands in July 2009, according to the Queens district attorney. Comments (1)

Suspect in Astoria spree arraigned on murder charge

An Astoria man who went on a violent rampage earlier this month is facing 25 years to life in prison, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office. James Patrick Dillon, 23, fatally stabbed one man, slashed a woman and set another man on fire before he was shot by police on March 6, was arraigned last Thursday at Elmhurst Hospital Center where he is recovering from gunshot wounds.
