East Elmhurst man sentenced for child sex abuse incident

An East Elmhurst man has been sentenced to one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child, Queens DA Richard Brown announced last Thursday. Computer technicians discovered sexually explicit photographs of children on the defendant’s computer after he dropped it off for repairs at a Long Island City Best Buy store in March 2014. Shot fired in St John’s dorm after confrontation involving seven men

Three men entered a residence hall at St. John’s University in Jamaica Estates Wednesday afternoon and after a dispute with four other men fired a gun in a robbery attempt, police said. The suspects fled the campus grounds but were later apprehended only a block away from the university, the NYPD said. Comment
