A 19-year-old Flushing man was arrested in the fatal beating of his father Friday night, according to the NYPD. Officers from the 111th Precinct, responding to an assault in progress, discovered 57-year-old Ioannis Safetis unconscious and unresponsive in front of 47-05 Utopia Parkway. Comment

A 19-year-old East Elmhurst woman was slashed while jogging Sunday morning in Jackson Heights, according to the NYPD. The victim was at the corner of 79th Street and 25th Avenue just after 11 a.m. when a man ran up beside her and slashed her in the left thigh with an unknown weapon, police said. Comments (2)
